NEW DELHI: Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh was hospitalised this evening after he complained of fever and weakness. He has been admitted to the All India Institute Of Medical Sciences in the national capital.
According to the report by NDTV, Pranav Jha, AICC secretary in charge of communications, said Dr Singh is “undergoing routine treatment” and his condition is stable. He also dismissed “unsubstantiated rumours” regarding his health.
Earlier this year, the 88-year-old Congress veteran and Rajya Sabha member had been admitted to hospital after he tested positive for Covid-19 during the second wave of infections.
Singh had a fever on Monday and had recovered from it, but turned weak and as per reports, he is currently on fluids.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi tweeted saying, “Praying for quick recovery and good health of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji who has been admitted to AIIMS.”
Congress spokesperson took Twitter and shared that he is only undergoing routine treatment and in a stable condition “There are some unsubstantiated rumours with regards to former PM, Dr Manmohan Singh ji’s health. His condition is stable. He is undergoing routine treatment. We will share any updates as needed. We thank our friends in media for their concern.” Pranav Jha, Congress Secretary.
Soon after news came, political leaders across the party also took to social media to wish him a quick recovery. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also shared his wishes for the quick recovery of the former Prime Minister.
In the past also, Singh has already undergone several cardiac bypass surgeries. The latest surgery was conducted on him in January 2009.
A Rajya Sabha member leads an active public life. In April 2020 he was appointed as the chief of an internal 11 member committee to formalise the Congress party’s stand on key national issues by party president Sonia Gandhi.
