On March 25, Manipur CM N. Biren Singh strongly warned all the drug peddlers within the state.
CM warns drug peddlers in Manipur:
While interacting with the media, the CM said, the abuse of drugs is destroying the future of the young generation and creating a serious negative impact in the society.
He added, “Due to the misuse of drugs, lots of lives have been lost untimely. Our Government’s war against drugs would be intensified. All kinds of laws including the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act would be invoked to deal with the drug menace.”
Huge amount of drugs seized:
He also informed that after the setting up of the new Government on March 20, a hefty amount of drugs worth over Rs. 9 crore have been seized from different parts of the state and two drug traffickers were arrested.
CM Singh took the incident to its official Twitter handle where he wrote, “With the massive seizure of drugs worth over 9 crores in the international market under ‘War on Drugs,’ the fight against drugs will further intensify now. I strongly urge all illicit drug traffickers to surrender or face consequences.”

Earlier, in December, 2021 a large amount of drugs worth Rs. 500 crore was seized in Manipur town in an operation launched by a combined team of Manipur Police and Assam Rifles personnel from a house at Moreh town in Tengnoupal district.
The seized drugs include heroin powder weighing approximately 54 kg worth Rs 108 crore and 154 kg of methamphetamine worth Rs. 400 crore.
