Kokrajhar: Superintendent of Excise, caught red-handed taking bribe

A person called Himonjyoti Bora from Kokrajhar was caught red-handed for taking a bribe by a team of Directorate Vigilance and Anti Corruption team of Assam. He was the Superintendent of Excise in Kokrajhar District who was caught while taking a bribe of worth Rs 25,000.

“As part of the drive against corruption, Today, a team of Directorate Vigilance & Anti Corruption Assam, caught red-handed Sh Himonjyoti Bora, Superintendent of Excise, Kokrajhar Distt while receiving a bribe of Rs 25000/-. @mygovassam @CMOfficeAssam @assampolice”, the Anti-Corruption of Assam and the Directorate of Vigilance wrote it in their Twitter account.

Dispur police arrested four persons

The Dispur police have arrested four persons allegedly forging the signature of the Assam Chief Minister for a contract by the government. All four persons are from Demow which is located in the district of Dhemaji. The accused were caught forging the signature of Assam CM for a government contract that comes under the state’s Jal Jeevan Mission. The contract was worth Rs.3 crores. The accused persons are Pankaj Gogoi, Yemini Mohan, Deepjyoti Duttaand, and Binit Poddar.

Police put efforts to arrest Imran Shah

The police are putting efforts to arrest Imran Shah, as soon as possible who was the main planner of the whole scam. The scam is also being called “the mastermind has absconded”, according to sources.  

According to the statement made by one of the imposters called Deepjyoti Dutta, the four persons had planned to take off Rs.3 crores from the government by forging the Chief Minister’s signature. 

40 employees suspended

40 employees were suspended last month by the instruction of the state government which was done on the basis of the report submitted by the Fact-Finding Committee. Which formed after the illegal news appointment came to light. As per the sources, it happened due to a Guwahati-based media house. Guwahati Municipal Corporation’s (GMC) personnel branch ordered the suspension of all 40 illegally appointed employees.
