1.5 tonnes of Jackfruits, Green chillies from Assam exported to Dubai

Assam for the first time transported 1.5 tonnes of tender jackfruits and green chillies to Dubai from the Dhubri district on Friday.

The shipment was flagged off by DC Dhubri Anbamuthan MP, who stated that jackfruits and green chillies were being exported to Dubai for the first time in Assam.

Meanwhile, the shipment includes 1.5 tonnes of tender jackfruit and more than half a tonne of green chillies, which will be marketed and traded through Lulu Group International’s network of more than 225 supermarkets and hypermarkets throughout the Gulf.

Moreover, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), which is part of the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, was in charge of the export process.

According to the Deputy Commissioner, it was indeed a memorable day for the Dhubri district and Assam’s agro-economic sectors.

Abul Kalam Azad, President of the FPO, remarked on the entire process. “We have been waiting for this day for years. We have been trying to export Green Chillies and tender Jackfruits for the last six months. District administration helped us all the time. We are grateful to them.”

Moreover, Green Chilli Producer Organization Cooperative Society Ltd, a farmer producer organisation (FPO) with 560 shareholders from the Bilasipara and Nayer Alga Development Block areas, has produced the exported commodities, which will be done on a weekly basis.
