From the upcoming academic year, the IIT-Guwahati, will offer a new BTech programme in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Through the present JEE Advanced 2021 counselling procedure, the first batch of 20 applicants will be admitted to IIT-Guwahati.
This new curriculum aims to prepare students for careers in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI), with a focus on important courses from other science and engineering fields such as Computer Science, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Statistics in IIT-Guwahati.
New developments in IIT-Guwahati
IIT-Guwahati’s newly constructed Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence will offer this DSAI curriculum. The B Tech degree will place a strong emphasis on broadening instruction in both theoretical and practical areas. In addition, students will have the option of pursuing a Minor in another institute discipline.
“The vast opportunities that the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence field offers will fulfil the demands of having sufficiently qualified graduates to serve the nation in the future in areas requiring expertise in AI and Data Analytics,” said Prof TG Sitharam, director, IIT-Guwahati, of the programme.

IIT Patna has launched three new undergraduate programmes, with admission based on JEE Advanced scores
Three new undergraduate (UG) degree programmes have been offered by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna. The JEE Advanced score will be used to determine admission to all three programmes. BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, BTech in Engineering Physics, and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computing are the three new courses.
The BS in Mathematics and Computing is designed to meet current technological needs while also providing a solid foundation in the field throughout the first semesters. Many elective scientific, engineering, and humanities courses are included in the curriculum. Many elective courses from science, engineering, and humanities subjects are included in the curriculum, allowing for a great deal of flexibility and academic independence. Basic studies in algebra, geometry, number theory, analysis, differential equations, statistics and probability, and graph theory are necessary. Many advanced courses in these topics, as well as theoretical computer science and information technology, have been provided in addition to the fundamental courses.
Strong Foundation
The 4-year BTech in Engineering Physics curriculum combines a strong foundation in core disciplines, solid physics coursework, a wide range of electives, and exposure to cutting-edge technologies.
The AI and Data Science BTech degree will prepare students to handle massive amounts of data and construct AI-focused algorithms.
“The number of seats available in BTech AI and Data Science is 36,” economics assistant professor Rajendra Paramanik, who is also the professor-in-charge of public relations at IIT Patna, told indianexpress.com.
