Sanjeev Khirwar, an IAS official who allegedly cleared a Delhi stadium to walk his dog, has been sent to Ladakh in the wake of widespread condemnation of his behavior. Rinku Dugga, his wife who is also an officer, was sent to Arunachal Pradesh.

The notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) came hours after media reports of an officer from the Indian Administrative Services vacating Delhi’s Thyagraj stadium to walk his dog.

The MHA had requested a report from Delhi’s Chief Secretary on the news report of Sanjeev Khirwar and his wife Rinku Dugga abusing amenities at Thyagraj Stadium.

Later that evening, the Chief Secretary issued a report on MHA’s factual stance.

“In the meanwhile, Sanjeev Khirwar has been transferred by MHA to Ladakh and Rinku Dhugga to Arunachal Pradesh. Necessary action will be initiated based on the report,” according to the sources.

Athletes and coaches at the Delhi stadium were ordered to finish training by 7 p.m., which was an hour earlier than usual.

Coaches and athletes of the Delhi Stadium reported a complaint against the officer

However, Ajit Chaudhary, the Delhi stadium administrator, disputed the athletes’ complaints. The official training time for athletes is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., after which the coaches and athletes depart, he said.
