In a recent development, New cycle lane has commenced to get constructed from Jayanagar Chariali to Khanapara field. Cycling is a complex sport and thus it requires good roads to make the process easier.
Cycle lanes have not worked in the past, and scepticism persists among citizens. In 2012, amid much fanfare, Jayanagar got a cycle lane but the plan failed and the space was used to park cars. All the money spent on marking out the roads went down the drain.
Since after the Covid outbreak it’s witnessed lot of people have started Cycling as a hobby or to keep themselves fit. But with the increasing number of traffic in Guwahati city it’s hard for cycle enthusiast to ride. The new Cycle Lane will provide a good space for riding bicycles without indulging in Traffic.
