Guwahati: Governor of Assam unveils statue of country’s first President Dr Rajendra Prasad

Guwahati: On Friday, December 3, Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi unveiled a life-sized statue of the first President of India at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati.

This event marked the 137th birth anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad.

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Dr. Tara Sinha, the granddaughter of Dr. Rajendra Prasad were also present at the ceremony.

Unveiling the statue, the Governor recalled the monumental role of Dr. Rajendra Prasad in India’s freedom struggle and in framing India’s constitution.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad remembered

He also said that Dr. Rajendra Prasad acted as a source of inspiration to every citizen of this great nation and his distinguished contributions in nation-building, legal skills and his vision for democracy will continue to inspire the countrymen.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tributes on his birth anniversary and praised him for his impeccable contribution to the freedom struggle against the British.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that after 2014, the Government is focusing on establishing the efforts of all the freedom fighters.
