Residents of Geetanagar in Guwahati city to breathe easier as the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), decides to initiate bus services on Mother Teresa Road from November 29 onwards.
About the service:
The bus service will run through Zoo Road Tiniali to Narengi via Geetanagar with a total of 10 buses to be operated.
Hardships faced by residents before:
The deficiency of bus services was a major fact of concern for the people in the area as there was only a single-way bus facility from the Panjabari area that initially passes through Geetamandir to Zoo Road, Chandmari, and then Adabari. The shared taxi as usual cost much higher as compared to the buses and that was not viable for a lot of commuters. The bus violating this order were penalized.
The services of the bus from Panjabari were intended via Geetanagar. However, since the flyover had been completed earlier this month, the Panjabari buses have again started to operate from their former route during the time of the construction of the Dispur flyover.
