ASSAM: The Assam State Government decided to allow visits to pandals of Durga Puja to people with the first dose of vaccine (minimum).
Reportedly, major Covid-19 protocol relaxations were provided by the Assam Government to the public from October 1 onwards. People took them for granted and nonchalantly, contravening the SOPs.
Biswajit Pegu, DC of Kamrup (Metro) Kamrup says, “in greater Guwahati we have seen that 80% of the Covid infected people either took the first or both doses”.
Government’s Notification regarding celebration of Puja
The Government of Assam has been made mandatory for puja organizers and pandal visitors to get at least their first dose. Health experts, however, opine that vaccinated people may also be infected and may be carriers of the virus.
Health experts’s concern over Government’s Decision
A great concern has aroused with the utmost severity to Health Experts. Dr. Anup Kumar Barman, Director of Medical Education says, “vaccine is important because the majority of the people who died of Covid-19 were not vaccinated. Vaccines can lessen the suffering from the infection but cannot prevent the disease in all cases”.
As per the health officials, at least 80% of the Assam populace infected with the Covid-19 disease from the sprawling city of Guwahati turned to be amongst the vaccinated people. Some even died after getting their second dose of the vaccine.
While another health official states, “fatality among unvaccinated is higher but even people vaccinated with both doses have also died in Assam”.
ARUNACHAL PRADESH: Mönpa kid from AP catches actor Ranveer Singh’s attention
A video clip of a kid belonging to the Mönpa tribe of Arunachal Pradesh went viral. He is seen to be vibing and rapping to the popular song “Apna Time Aayega” from the 2019 movie Gully Boy.
Ranveer Singh is the protagonist and lead role in the movie, who had acted out rap verses of the song with the utmost drive of passion and energy. A similar spark of such enthusiasm and confidence is seen in the video of the little kid, as he creates a rendition.
Originally Yuva Arunachal had initially posted the assertive kid’s video on October 5, under a Tweet reading, “No limit to talent and can be found anywhere.
Rapping a Bollywood number by a little Monpa native boy from Arunachal Pradesh”. Since then, the footage has been circulating and gradually becoming widely known.
It is also spread amongst the Bollywood Industry, where actor Ranveer Singh posted the video on his Instagram handle, with the caption, “This little Monpa kid…..is my spirit animal !!! You’z a whole vibe, my lil’ brotha ! 😍🤟🏽”. Additionally, it grabbed the attention of Bollywood Belle Deepika Padukone, Ranveer’s wife, who reacted on the post with laughing emoticons.
MANIPUR: 24 Myanmar citizens captured in Manipur carrying fake Aadhaar
Soldiers of Assam Rifles caught 24 Myanmar nationals including 14 women and three minors with their fake Aadhaar cards in the Tengnoupal district of Manipur on 5th October.
According to the government officials, the nationals were on their way to Churachandpur district along with a man from Bulin Champhai, Mizoram.
Among the nationals nine belong to Mungswa, Khutan village and the other 15 are from Butalen and Toyero villages in Myanmar.
Meanwhile, a week ago 11 Myanmar citizens were caught at the Imphal Airport with fake Aadhaar cards. Moreh police station registered a case against all the Myanmar nationals and they were booked under the Foreigners Act.
MEGHALAYA: Proposed inquiry on rice scam yet to be executed: reports
A Retired judge had been appointed, under compulsion by the state government, two months prior, to lead a one-man inquiry commission for the inquest of a rice scam excavated in Assam in June 2021.
The inquiry being delayed, Social welfare Minister, Kyrmen Shylla on 5th of October marked that the department will be finalising terms and conditions as petitioned by Justice (retd) Mool Chand Garg of Madhya Pradesh High Court, heading the independent inquiry.
When asked about the expected date for the initiation of inquiry on the matter, Shylla replied that the department has been waiting for the terms and conditions to be finalised as proposed by the appointed personnel.
State Government’s irrespobsiblity
He also mentioned that the state government is not to be held responsible for the delay in the probe as the government has played its part by appointing the retired judge to look into the matter.
“We cannot force him but we will request him to inquire into the matter at the earliest,” Shylla asserted.
It may be mentioned that the state government passed the disclosure of the inquiry on July 29.
The terms of reference for the one-man committee is to probe into the matter of rice dispensing to Milkose (India) Limited for the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP) which was recovered in a private godown at Boko, Assam and confiscated by the Assam Police.
MIZORAM: In Siaha, foreign cigarettes worth Rs 2.79 lakh were destroyed
The Legal Metrology Enforcement Department and the Anti-Tobacco Squad seized foreign cigarettes worth Rs 2.79 lakhs from 12 vendors in Siaha and Lawngtlai town as part of a massive anti-drug operation.
The officials seized a total of 5580 packs of foreign cigarettes, including 3590 packs of ‘Far Star Brand’ and 1990 packs of ‘Valiant Brand.’
These illicit items, according to the DIPR report, breached the Legal Metrology Act & Rules, which require the inclusion of health statutory warnings, the name of the company, the maximum retail price (MRP), and other information.
The cigarettes were soaked in water before being carried to the dumping area by Deputy Commissioner Kesavan R IAS, Chairman of the Siaha Anti-Tobacco Squad, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and other officials.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the Legal Metrology Department and the Anti-Tobacco Squad for uncovering the illicit sale of these contraband cigarettes, which had a significant impact on the economy and the health of youths.
NAGALAND: Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum puts the order of shifting the DC office on hold
In a press release on 6th October, the Nagaland government informed that they had decided to put the recent order for “shifting of branches/cells to new DC office complex, Chumoukedima” on hold.

According to the notification by the state government, It is stated that to provide greater comfort to the public and to relieve congestion for the Deputy commissioner office in Dimapur.
A special cabinet under the Government of Nagaland had decided to post an ADC, EAC and Sub-Treasury Office at the new Deputy commissioner Office complex at Chumoukedima, in a meeting held on 10th of March, 2021.
As per the information, the EAC Seithekima was transferred to the new ADC at Chumoukedima and entrusted with the responsibility of assisting it. However, an additional officer was posted to function from the new DC office complex at Chumoukedima as ADC.

TRIPURA: Trinamool Congress declares 19 members steering committee for Tripura state
A steering committee for Tripura state comprising of 19 members was declared by the All India Trinamool Congress on Wednesday where Subal Bhowmik was announced as the new State Convenor of TMC.
As per the announcement, TMC Rajya Sabha MP and senior leader Sushmita Dev have been seated under Subal Bhowmik which has raised several controversies, all the while Baptu Chakraborty, previously serving as the General Secretary of Congress has been appointed as the State Youth Convener of TMC.
With Mamata Banerjee’s triumph over Bhabanipur, a good no. of West Bengal unit BJP politicians, legislators and leaders are expected to join the Trinamool party.
