The England Cricket Board (ECB) on Monday confirmed that the 34-year-old all-rounder Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from Test cricket. The English cricketer will, however, continue to make his appearance in the white-ball cricket for his national side.
“Test cricket is amazing, when you’re having a good day it’s better than any other format by far, it’s more rewarding and you feel like you’ve really earnt it”, expressed Moeen, who is very optimistic about his time with cricket and desire to keep playing as long as he can.
Moeen further stated, “I’ve enjoyed Test Cricket but that intensity can be too much sometimes and I feel like I’ve done enough of it and I’m happy and content with how I’ve done”.
The left-hander made his debut in 2014 at the Lord’s against Sri Lanka and displayed his poweress with the ball on several occasions. He has 64 Tests to his named and picked 195 wickets along with 5 centuries throughout his career.
