In a tea estate near Bokakhat of Karbi Anglong border, unfortunately two elephants were killed by poison.
The bodies of both the elephants were found inside the tea estate. The adult one was found near a drain and the other younger one was found lying a few meters away.
Reason of death
At first the residents and the forest officials thought electrocution was the reason behind the death of the elephants.
However, later when the bodies were sent for the post-mortem, the reports confirmed that the elephants died due to poisoning.
The incident created alot of agony among the locals of the area.
