The capacity of Digboi Refinery, to be increased from 0.65 Million metric ton per annum (MMTPA) to 1 MMTPA.
The central government has approved the proposal to increase the existing Duliajan-Digboi crude pipeline capacity.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma proposed the capacity expansion
According to reports, on September 23, 202, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, wrote a letter to PM Narendra Modi regarding the capacity expansion of Digboi Refinery.
The proposal was accepted by the Center and Hardeep Puri conveyed this message through a letter addressing the CM.
According to official reports, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) has already initiated action for expansion of its Digboi Refinery from 0.65 Million metric ton per annum (MMTPA) to 1 MMTPA.
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted thanking BJP Member of Parliament (MP) from Dibrugarh Rameswar Teli and PM Modi for his generous support.
About Digboi Refinery
Digboi Oil Refinery was established in the year 1901 on 11th December. It was set up by Assam Oil Company Private Limited and was taken over by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC) in the year 1981.
It has a crude processing capacity of 0.65 MMTPA. It processes waxy crude extracted from oil fields operating in areas nearby Digboi.
Digboi Refinery’s current product portfolio includes LPG, BS-IV compliant MS & HSD, Fuel Oil, Wax, RPC and Sulfur.
