Mumbai Press Club awards Photojournalist Danish Siddiqui as ‘Journalist of the Year’

The Mumbai Press Club awarded Photojournalist Danish Siddiqui as the ‘Journalist of the Year’ for 2020. 

Danish Siddiqui, died during a task in Afghanistan, has been posthumously awarded as the ‘Journalist of the Year’ for 2020 by the Mumbai Press Club.

Danish Siddiqui’s wife Frederike Siddiqui received the award 

Through a virtual event, Chief Justice of India N V Ramana presented the annual ‘RedInk Awards for Excellence in Journalism’, organized by the Mumbai Press Club. 

The prestigious award was presented to Siddiqui “for his spectrum of investigative and impactful news photography”. 

Chief Justice Ramana said, “He was a man with a magical eye and was rightly regarded as one of the foremost photojournalists of this era. If a picture can tell a thousand words, his photos were novels.” 

About The RedInk Awards 

With a motive to recognise good investigative and feature writing and also raise the bar of journalism in the country the Mumbai Press Club began The RedInk Awards. 

As part of the 10th version of the award event various other journalists were also awarded under 12 categories. 

Numerous other journalists were also awarded 

Senior journalist Prem Shankar Jha, 83, was honored with the lifetime achievement award. He received the award “for his long and distinguished career of incisive and analytical writing”. 

Chief Justice Ramana while congratulating Mr Jha said, “His reputation for hard work, the highest ethical standards, and intellectual rigor are unparalleled in the field.”
