Cotton University was in protest after Abhishek Mahanta who recently joined BJYM sparked a lot of heat which was witnessed at the surrounding premises of the Cotton University.
Reports from local news sources reveal that many students began protesting by burning tyres in front of the entrance of the University. Reportedly, students are agitated over him joining the other party. Previously, Abhishek Mahanta when contested for the position of General Secretary promised to work on student problems. He even stood against CAA and BJP.
Such a move by Abhishek after winning the post of General Secretary has taken Cottonian by surprise. The MNDP and RKB hostel has been in the wake of protests following Abhishek’s move. Hostel students protested with letters in their hands.
Cotton University in protest after GS shifts to new party
Abhishek Mahanta joined the party in presence of the National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Tejaswi Surya. The move triggered the Cotton University in protest.
Abhishek was elected as the General Secretary of the University from the Satra Mukti Sangram Samiti. The party to which he was affiliated is a student wing of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti.
In a tweet shared by the National President of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha , “With Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Assam Karyakartas, met with dynamic and hardworking CM Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma Ji and took his guidance on how Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Cares can be of even more help to people during these testing times of Assam Floods 2022.” He further added, “Met BJYM state office bearers and discussed the updates and progress on Assam Floods Relief. With 10000 + Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Cares karyakartas working tirelessly across 30 districts, we stand together with Assam and are making sure all possible rescue efforts and relief are provided.”
