On October 5, a Class 7 student was allegedly raped by her teacher. On October 14, she ultimately spoke up about that when she dialled a child helpline contact she found in her textbook.

A school professor was detained late Thursday evening in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district on suspicion of raping an 11-year-old girl earlier this month.

The girl was also intimidated by the 31-year-old government school instructor not to inform anyone. For almost nine days, she didn’t.

Girl threatened to keep her mouth shut, calls helpline number after 9 days

On Thursday morning, she found a phone number for a student helpline in her school textbook and summoned the bravery to call the number. The fact that the schoolteacher was on leave certainly helped.

“She narrated the entire incident to them. Soon after, members of the Child Welfare Committee reached out to the girl and approached the district superintendent of police, who directed immediate action,”claimed Bhajana Ram, Singhana police station’s station house officer (SHO).

The teacher told the girl to stay after school on October 5 and sexually abused her after the other students had left for the day, according to the girl’s statement. “He threatened her,” Bhajana Ram recalled, “not to mention what had transpired.”

Police detained the accused on Thursday

The girl reportedly informed the cops that the government school instructor had been sending her indecent texts and images for some time but had removed them after the rape.

According to Bhajana Ram, a team of police officers was dispatched to the teacher’s family home in Alwar district, 200 kilometres away, and detained him on Thursday evening.

The defendant, who grew up in a family of educators, was married to a teacher from some other district, according to the officer. His father is a retired teacher, and his sister and her spouse are also government college professors.
