Every now and then blunders of many colleges and universities showing their careless attitude towards the students are coming out and it seems like Gauhati University(GU) is also not behind in this regard.
Another such case has come into light where a student speaking to ‘The North-Eastern Chronicle’, from Handique Girls’ College has shown concern regarding a big blunder made by the prestigious Gauhati University (GU).
The results of 5th Semester students were recently declared by GU on 07th October where most of the students’ results were either withheld or were given zero in most of the major papers. The same issues happened with the students of the Psychology department where the whole class consisting of 20 students received a ‘back’ in their result.

While speaking to one of the teachers, we also ferreted out that it was not only the Handique Girls’ College students that had to face the problem but also other colleges affiliated under Gauhati University.
The professor said, “It’s not only from our college, most colleges including Darrang College have also faced it, it’s not just Handique”. Further, she added that the Handique Girls’ College and the Departments have registered the issue to GU and that the University “is working on it”.
It is to be mentioned that the timing on when the GU authority will resolve this issue has not been told to the teachers yet, but the University has assured to resolve it “at the earliest”.
When our reporter enquired on how Handique Girls College is dealing with the students, the teacher said, “we (as a college) can’t do anything about it, we don’t have any role to play here” but that it is done “by the University”. They also mentioned how the students of their college are understanding and never blamed the college for the blunder, “girls of our college are pretty sorted”, they said.
According to the teachers, the University of Gauhati has a lot of pressure for it is “handling too many colleges”, “not only in Guwahati but colleges from lower Assam as well”. They also added that the year 2021 altogether “has been tough, not just for the students, but also for the teachers and people working in the field of academics, for example, Gauhati University.”
They also said that because of this tough year, nobody can be blamed for what has happened, the University must get “the benefit” of the tough year.
