The Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) has decided to take a measure to bring down the number of Pink buses in the city from 25 to 4. The decision has been taken because of decreasing number of passengers.
ASTC releases notification
As per reports from Sentinel Assam, the ASTC has released a notification wherein it has been mentioned that the Pink Buses that ply in the city have witnessed a drop in the number of passengers in the last few months.
The officials at the ASTC said, “Therefore, it has been decided to decrease the operation of the buses and only four buses will operate in Guwahati on a daily basis.”
A schedule has been issued by the ASTC to all the routes on which the buses will operate. The buses will now ply on only four routes as per the timetables.
Bus number 1 will operate from Khanapara to Jalukbari, Bus number 2 will run from Jalukbari to Khanapara while bus number 3 will operate from Bonda to Jalukdari and Bus number 4 will run from Jalukbari to Bonda.
The Pink Buses was launched by the government under the scheme ‘Bhraman Sarathi’ which was dedicated to all female travellers.
