After Vandana Cinema Hall, the Apsara Cinema Hall in Paltan Bazar, Guwahati, is being converted into a ‘Marriage Hall,’ signaling the end of an era for visitors.

What led to the shutdown?

As reported by Prag News, the Cinema Hall’s owner faced significant losses throughout the pandemic. 

The issue was brought to the prior attention of the government, and discussions were undertaken, but no proper resolution could be sorted out.

According to Prag News the government deemed shorthanded on providing needed assistance to the cinema halls of Assam.

Apsara Cinema Hall located in Paltanbazar Guwahati, Opposite Manipuri Basti, was one of the state’s oldest Cinema Hall. 

It showcased practically all genres of movies at an affordable rate. It drew visitors from all over Assam as well as from other states.
