Due to an increase in Covid cases in the state, the Assam government has strengthened restrictions to prevent the virus from spreading further. The state has recently imposed new limitations prohibiting non-vaccinated people from entering public areas, with the exception of hospitals.

When travelling to public venues, people have been requested to bring proof of immunisation. It also instructed authorities to close schools for pupils up to the eighth grade. The new restrictions will be in effect starting at 6 a.m. on January 25 and will last until further notice.

According to the new recommendations, all government employees, including contract workers, should be immunised with both doses of vaccines before going to work.

New guidelines for Assam

Physical education sessions have been suspended in all schools up to and including class 8 in all districts of Assam.

Until further directives, authorities must ensure that all such educational institutions move to virtual options.

All districts have allowed classes in schools on alternate days for students in grades IX and up.

Non-vaccinated people will not be permitted to access public areas, with the exception of hospitals, according to the ASDMA.

Marriages and gatherings are limited to 200 individuals or 50% of a venue’s capacity, whichever is smaller.

Funerals and last rites are limited to a maximum of 20 individuals.
