Assam: On Sunday, the Sub Inspector of Schools, Nazira Block, Nobul Islam was caught red-handed by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption while accepting demanded bribe money Rs 15,000 in Sivasagar district of Assam.
Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption receives a complaint
On November 17, 2020, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption received a complaint that Nobul Islam, Sub Inspector of Schools, Nazira Block, Sibsagar, had visited a school near the Assam-Nagaland border and discovered the complainant’s wife away from duty, according to the report.
Sub Inspector of Schools in Assam demands bribe of Rs 15,000
He then summoned the complainant’s wife to his office the following day. After a few days, the complainant went to the office of Nobul Islam, Sub Inspector of Schools, who demanded a payment of Rs 15,000 or he would suspend the complainant’s wife on grounds of absence from duty and failure to provide meals to students.
The complainant sought this Directorate because he was unwilling to pay the bribe and wanted to take legal action against the public official in question.
Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sets trap
Accordingly, a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Assam, with the help of Sivsagar Police, set up a trap near his home on Sunday at Amolapatty, Nazira, Sibsagar, and Nobul Islam, Sub Inspector of Schools, was apprehended after he took the bribe money of Rs 15,000 from the complainant.
At 3.15 p.m., in the presence of independent witnesses, the tainted bribe was retrieved from the possession of Nobul Islam, Sub Inspector of Schools.
