A shocking incident has occurred in Jorhat, on November 29, where a student leader from Assam was lynched to death, while two others are severely injured.

About the Incident

A student leader died, and two others were grievously injured in the afternoon of November 29, Monday. The incident happened after a mob assaulted the three youths resulting from a ‘miscommunication’.

It occurred at a truck stand near the Nirmal Chariali area, of the Jorhat town, in Assam.

According to reports, Animesh Bhuyan, Brahmaputra Anchalik Chatra Sanstha (Golaghat Unit) Education Secretary, along with Mridusmanta Baruah (journalist of a local TV channel) and another youngster (uncertain identity) visited Jorhat for official/formal work.

Subsequently, only a few hours later, the three persons were attacked by a mob, who suspected them to be involved in an accident case. Later, it was informed by All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) leader (Jorhat Unit) that they had no involvement.

The AASU members also immediately reported the incident to the police.

Post this, the Jorhat Police arrived at the location and rushed the injured to Jorhat Medical College Hospital (JMCH). Two victims were said to be in critical condition. However, the doctors declared the AASU leader Animesh Bhuyan dead on arrival.
