Three peddlers of drugs were arrested and more than a kg of drugs, worth a whopping amount of Rs 6.50 crore, were seized by Assam Police in two separate operations in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district within 48 hours.
According to the reports, Karbi Anglong district police led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Bokajan had installed multiple naka checking at Khatkhati, Borpathar, and Dilai place on Saturday.
When a suspected car fled away from the Khatkhati region and moved toward the Borpathar location, the police group of Borpathar police station trapped the vehicle at Silanijan place. During the search, the police crew had recovered 698 grams of heroin from the vehicle.
Two peddlers identified
A police officer of the Karbi Anglong district stated that two peddlers of drugs have been arrested in an operation. The arrested duo has been identified as Bikash Thapa and Amon Dulhal.
Statement by police
The police official said, “The Officer-in-Charge of Khatkhati police station had shared information that a vehicle bearing Nagaland registration number might be carried drugs and based on that information we set up several naka checking. We had detected the vehicle at the Silonijan area and during thorough checking, we recovered 698 grams of drugs from the vehicle. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated at Rs 4-5 crore.”

Another operation led to seizure of 339 grams of drugs
In a different operation, Assam Police seized 339 grams of drugs from a bus at Dilai vicinity in the Karbi Anglong district on Friday night.
One of the drug peddlers is identified as Md Azad Khan, who is a resident of Bishnupur in Manipur, was arrested in the operation.
Police stated around ₹2.50 Crore of market value drugs has been seized.
