In one of the most spectacular occurrences in Assam’s Tinsukia area, a man killed his own nephew and buried his body due to family disagreements and quarrels.
Identification of the accused and victim
Bikram Das, a resident of Ledo Kalpara in Tinsukia’s Margherita, was named as the defendant.
Meanwhile, Rahul Das, a ten-year-old native of Jagun, Tinsukia, has been identified as the deceased.
Mantu Das and Uma Das were his parents. On Tuesday, November 9th, Bikram viciously murdered Rahul and buried his body in the backyard of his home.
Culprit’s arrest and interrogation
Rahul’s parents filed a missing person’s report at the Ledo Police Station on Wednesday, November 10th, bringing the situation to light.
Following the report made by Rahul’s parents, the Ledo Police Department launched a thorough investigation into the matter, which resulted in Bikram Das’ arrest.
During his interrogation by police, Bikram Das admitted to perpetrating a murder and acknowledged that he killed his own nephew, Rahul.
He went on to recount the entire storey of how he killed Rahul.
Bikram was then brought into judicial custody, and the case was filed with the Margherita Police Station under the Domestic Violence Act since it involved domestic violence.

Local’s outrage
When the locals learned of the incident, they became enraged and set fire to Bikram’s house, but the fire was quickly put out by fire tenders.
Rahul’s parents wanted that Bikram be severely punished for killing their son.
However, Bikram was shot by the Margherita Police Department while attempting to flee police custody.
Bikram was shot in the left leg during the police firing, sustaining serious injuries for which he was transferred to the civil hospital of Margherita for treatment.
He was eventually referred to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) Dibrugarh from the Margherita hospital.
