The Assam Kaziranga University has again been in the forefront recently for achieving an unparalleled placement record for its students, for the 2021 academic year.
Like previous years, the University has again brought into the region corporate houses and companies to cater to the needs of students, not only of KU, but all over the Northeast.
The press meet was conducted in the presence of several esteemed guests and dignitaries belonging to academics, industry, and the media house.
Dignitaries from Assam Kaziranga University who attended the press conference were – the honorable Pro-Chancellor of the University Mr. Basant Khetan, Vice Chancellor Dr. PK Mishra, Prof. Puranjoy Das, Dean-Career Department & Placement Cell (CDPC), KU and Dr. PG Ramesh, Dean – School of Engineering & Technology, KU.
The press conference primarily focused on highlighting the exceptional placement performance of the university over the years.
This year, two of the ‘BIG 4 Companies of the world’, PWC India, have selected a total of five (5) students offering a package of Rs. 7.81 Lacs per annum & KPMG, recruited one (1) student offering an annual CTC of Rs. 7 Lpa, for various technical and non-technical posts. Remaining two Big 4 Companies, e.g. E & Y and Deloitte had already recruited students from KU in the previous years.
In the last two months itself, a total no of 26 drives had been conducted by the university in association with renowned companies like Capgemini, HCL, Tech Mahindra, Biju’s, Delhivery, Mphasis, Amazon, Nanda Class, Bhodhan Infra and Marico, apart from PWC & KPMG.
Out of these drives, 45 offers had been released to the students of KU along with 7 offers to students belonging to different institutions other than KU.
Here, it has to be mentioned that the university has not only facilitated placement opportunities to its students, but also helps the students of other institutions to participate in the placement drives organised by KU.
Last year, during the lockdown, a total of 162 companies conducted virtual on-campus drives in KU and recruited students from both – KU and outside institutions.
It’s indeed a matter of pride for the university and also for the state to see its young students getting placed at a time when the pandemic has massively impacted the job market, leading many professionals to lose their jobs.
In the last four years, the university placement cell has been able to conduct 466 drives and generate 1305 offers, out of which 209 offers had been given to outside students who belong to institutions like – Tezpur University, Dibrugarh University, Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management (Sivasagar), Assam Women’s University, JIST, DONBOSCO, GIMT, AIM & POWEIT to name a few.
Some of the students of KU who have been placed in companies like PWC, Cognizant, Amazon, Royal Infra, Byju’s etc. were present in the Press Meet and were appreciative of KU’s effort towards Placements.
A few videos of students from outside KU campuses were also shown appreciating KU’s effort.
The university placement cell also puts an extra effort to groom its students by providing them regular career counselling sessions and personality development sessions; enhancing their communication skills, soft skills and other employability skills through regular training; conducting mock interviews and GD sessions; arranging alumni speech for motivating the current students etc.
Besides, the university also encourages its students to enroll in various learning platforms like Coursera etc and learn advanced courses and technologies to make them well prepared for the industry demands.
In this context, the high efficiency shown by the university placement call led by Prof. Puranjoy Das is also noteworthy.
Kaziranga University’s stellar placement performance may also be attributed to it’s unique strategy in establishing a network of placement offices across industrial cities in India, such as Delhi & Bangalore.
With Pan India and International placement activities, KU has definitely fulfilled its mission of being a trusted and effective determinant for career development in the Northeast, and has positioned itself as an unchallenged leader among private Universities in the region.
