Guwahati, Assam – Assam down town University (AdtU) held its prestigious 11th Convocation Ceremony on September 25, 2024, at the university’s grand amphitheatre in Panikhaiti, Guwahati. The event celebrated the academic achievements of its students, marking a significant milestone in the university’s journey.

Presiding over the ceremony was His Excellency Shri Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the Governor of Assam and Visitor to the University, alongside Shri Jayanta Malla Baruah, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Government of Assam, who attended as the Guest of Honour. The day commenced with a formal welcome extended by the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor, both of whom commended the graduating class for their accomplishments.
In his keynote address, Governor Acharya emphasized the transformative power of education, urging graduates to use their knowledge for the greater good of society. “As you step into the next phase of your lives, remember that education is not merely a tool for personal success but a force that can uplift communities and foster progress,” he said. His words resonated deeply with the attendees, setting the tone for an inspiring ceremony.
Shri Jayanta Malla Baruah, in his speech, encouraged the graduates to contribute actively to the state’s growth and development. “Your education has equipped you with the tools to face challenges and create meaningful change. Use your knowledge and skills to make a difference in Assam and beyond,” he remarked.
Degrees were conferred upon a diverse cohort of students from various programs, including PhDs, Postgraduate, and Undergraduate courses. The ceremony also saw the recognition of academic excellence, with the Chancellor proudly awarding Gold Medals to the Best Post-Graduate and Best Undergraduate students, acknowledging their outstanding achievements.
One of the most memorable moments of the event came when the Best Post-Graduate student administered the Oath of Dedication. This heartfelt moment reinforced the graduates’ commitment to upholding professional and ethical responsibilities as they embark on their future careers.
The Vice-Chancellor took a moment to reflect on the university’s growth over the past year, highlighting its efforts to create an innovative and inclusive learning environment. “Today is a testament not only to your academic success but also to our collective efforts in fostering a culture of excellence at Assam down town University,” he remarked.
The ceremony concluded with His Excellency signing the Convocation Book, formally bringing the event to a close. The National Anthem echoed through the amphitheater, filling graduates and their families with a sense of pride and optimism for the future.
