The Deputy Commissioner of Kolasib district in Mizoram, H Lalthlangliana has shot off a letter to his Cachar counterpart in Assam given border tension between Assam and Mizoram.
As the tension has surged further along with Mizoram accusing Assam of committing human rights violations and atrocities on the tribal people residing along with the inter-state border areas.
In his letter, the DC indicted the Assam Government officials and the police for perpetrating human rights infringement. He further alleged that on 10th July, the Assam officials engaged in road construction work in an area that fell under the jurisdiction of the Mizoram Government, and destroyed crops cultivated by the residing Mizo people.
It is also being alleged that the personnel of the Assam Police used force to disperse the agitating crowd, who gathered to protest the construction of roads by destructing their produce.
However, the copies of the letter were also sent to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST).
