Assam: COVID-19 regulations relaxed with fresh new SOP; Cinema halls to operate with 50% capacity

The Assam state government announced on Tuesday that the night curfew will now be enforced between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., rather than starting at 10 p.m.

Commercial establishments can stay open until 10 p.m., according to an order issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. Restaurants and eateries can only operate at 50% capacity until 10 p.m., according to the report.

“Takeaways and food items from restaurants, dhabas and other eateries will also be not allowed after 10 pm,” It was stated.

In terms of public transportation, it stated that “goods transit shall continue unabated” and that “auto-rickshaws, cycle rickshaws, and taxis can run for passengers with 100% seating capacity” while adhering to all Covid rules.

“Cinema halls and theatres will be allowed with 50% seating capacity of fully vaccinated viewers and observance of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour,” said the release.

Protocols applied

Marriages and religious functions with fewer than 50 individuals in attendance will be authorised. Everyone in attendance at such a meeting should receive at least the first anti-Covid vaccinations.

Furthermore, at iconic religious sites, no more than 60 completely vaccinated individuals per hour will be permitted; at other religious sites, no more than 40 fully vaccinated persons per hour will be permitted.

Office protocols

All government employees (both contract and fixed-term) who have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine are welcome to come to work.

In addition, in all districts, government and private groups providing essential/emergency services, law enforcement services, and election activities will continue unabated.

Essential commodities

Essential goods may be delivered around the clock through e-commerce, with pharmacies, hospitals, animal care centres, and veterinary clinics available 24 hours a day.

The decision was made because everyday new cases average between 300 and 400, with the majority of them occurring in metropolitan and peri-urban areas. According to the government, most districts have been reporting less than 10 cases per day for the past four to five weeks.

In this state, there is a tense situation

In the 24 hours ending Monday, Assam reported 326 new Covid-19 cases, 296 recoveries, and five fatalities, according to the state’s health department.

There are 2,535 current cases in the northeastern state. Since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak last year, the state has recorded 6,08,915 cases.

On Monday, the positive rate was recorded at 0.65%.

The death toll is at 5,978, with a 0.98 percent case fatality rate.

According to the state’s health department, the districts with the most cases are Kamrup Metropolitan, Barpeta, Sivasagar, and Lakhimpur.
