Assam: Majuli-Jorhat bridge to be completed in 4 years, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma laid the foundation stone of various projects to be implemented by water resources department in Majuli. A new bridge will be constructed in Majuli which will connect Jorhat. The work will started from November 30 as announced by CM of Assam, on Friday.
What did the Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma say?
The CM came for a visit to Majuli said, that he would lay the foundation stone of the new bridge on 30 November. Sarma said “The first pile foundation will be started on November 30 and it will take four years to complete the bridge.” He also added that “The projects worth nearly Rs 15 crore will greatly enhance flood and erosion protection apparatus in the river island and minimise damages to life and property,”.

How will the bridge help people of Majuli?
The bridge was a long dream for the people staying in Majuli. The demand for a bridge among the people of the island was indeed an essential demand which need to be considered way before the horrific incidents occurred to the people travelling on a daily basis.
