Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at a felicitation ceremony on Thursday, August 12, announced Lovlina Borgohain as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Assam Police.
Sarma announced Rs 1 Crore Award for the Olympian and further added that a Rs 25 crore sporting complex will be built in Saupathar in Golaghat district of Assam in Lovlina Borgohain’s name. A road in Guwahati will also be named as Lovlina Borgohain road. Additionally, Rs 10 Lakh has also been awarded to all 5 of Lovlina’s coaches.

Ignition of a billion dreams
Later in the day, the Assam Chief Minister took to Twitter to say that that the boxer has ignited a billion dreams with her success in Olympics.
The Olympic Bronze Medalist replied to the tweet saying, “Thank you Hon’ble CM @himantabiswa sir for such a warm welcome. I will continue to work hard and bring glory for my country.”
Grand Welcome
Earlier in the day yesterday, Lovlina received the grandest of welcomes at the Guwahati airport. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma was present at the airport to receive her.
Goal to win a Gold
Shortly after she landed in India, Lovlina said that her next goal was to win a gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
“I want to say thank you to all. I am feeling good after coming back to India,” Lovlina told reporters at the airport. “I will try to change this bronze to gold.” Talking about her plans for the future, she reiterated: “I want to bring a gold medal in Paris Olympics.”
It must also be mentioned that CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a Rs 1 Lakh scholarship for every month till the Paris Olympics 2024.
