The upcoming session of the APSC examinations, papers will be conducted in the Assamese language, states CM Sarma.

Announcement by Chief Minister Sarma

The chief minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma proclaimed on Saturday, November 27, that from the forthcoming session, the Assam Public Service Commission examinations will be conducted in the Assamese language.

Whilst addressing a press meet in Guwahati, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that from 2022, or next year onwards, candidates would be able to give their APSC prelims and their mains in the Assamese language.

He explained how he came to the decision. CM Sarma said, “It has come to our notice that Assamese medium students find it difficult to write their exams in the English language, which is barring them from cracking the exam. I received a message on WhatsApp requesting me if the candidates for APSC can write their exams in the Assamese language. For a while, I was shocked, because I had no idea about the issue.”
