Amazing: 1.48 crore endangered Olive Ridley Turtle born at World’s largest nesting ground in Odhisa

In Odisha’s Kendrapara district, almost 1.48 crore endangered turtles have hatched from eggshells. Reportedly Olive Ridley was born at the Gahirmatha nesting ground.

It was reported that the birth of the turtles began on April 25 and the annual event has now reached its fag end. However, the administrator’s confirmed the same to PTI.

“A total of 1.48 crore of baby turtles have broken out of eggshells to mingle in the Gahirmatha seawaters till Thursday, marking the grand culmination of the annual sojourn of Olive Ridley sea turtles to this unmanned Gahirmatha Island,” Bikash Ranjan Dash, the Divisional Forest Officer of Bhitarkanika Mangrove (Wildlife), told PTI.
