Transgender advocate Swati Bidhan Baruah was arrested in Guwahati on allegations of murder. The arrest followed the discovery of Mansur Alam’s body, found hanging at his residence in Pandu. Earlier, Swati had filed an FIR accusing Alam of rape.
Swati Bidhan Baruah Arrested in Guwahati on Murder Charges
According to Alam’s family, he had a relationship with Swati while working at her residence for the past year and a half, but it was tumultuous, with allegations of mental anguish.
The situation escalated when an angry mob vandalized Swati’s home and office, demanding her arrest. The Assam police responded by arresting Swati in connection with the alleged murder. The case has been referred to the All Women Police Station at Pan Bazar for further investigation.
Swati, who recently served as a judge in the Lok Adalat held in Guwahati, now finds herself entangled in a legal battle amid allegations and turmoil surrounding the tragic incident.
