A four-year-old boy from the Cachar district of Assam has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for justice after the murder of his father four years ago. Saidul Alom Laskar, Rizwan’s father, was assassinated on December 26, 2016, in Silchar, Assam’s Cachar district, when he was only three months old.

The kid made a video and shared it on Twitter, holding a sign that reads, “I Want Justice,” as he addresses Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah, and Sarma.

“My name is Rizwan Sahid Laskar. Dear sir, when I was 3 months old, my father was brutally killed by 11 miscreants on December 26, 2016, case number 121/2017. Now, I request the Prime Minister, home minister, and respected chief minister to look after this matter and give justice to us. Thank you so much,” Rizwan Sahid Laskar is heard saying in the 45-second video.

Brutal murder

According to the reports, Rizwan’s father was a contractor and businessman who was allegedly killed by sand mafias on December 26, 2016, as he returned home.

FIR against the murderer

The victim’s wife, Jannatul Ferdousy Laskar, filed an FIR with the Cachar district police after the incident, accusing 11 people of alleged involvement in the murder incident and a case was registered under Section 147/326/302 of the IPC.

“On December 26, 2016, my husband went to Sonabarighat, IWT office for a tender work purpose. 11 people had brutally killed my husband near the office. They had used iron rods and other weapons to kill my husband. Police have arrested 9 people, but two among the accused persons are yet to be arrested. The accused people are still roaming near our house. We are unsafe. We want justice,” Jannatul Ferdousy Laskar said.

“When I was just 3 months old, my father was killed by 11 miscreants. I want justice,” Rizwan said.

Mohidul Hoque Laskar, Rizwan’s uncle, said police had detained nine of the accused persons, but they had all been granted anticipatory bail.

“I helped Rizwan to open a Twitter account and upload the video to seek justice,” Mohidul Hoque Laskar said.

Recent murder cases in Assam

Recently, in Guwahati’s Kharghuli, a 14-year-old girl was brutally killed on Wednesday. When her parents weren’t home, the girl was attacked, and her aunt discovered her lifeless body in a pool of her blood.

One of the suspects, Abhishek Gupta alias Asik, has admitted to killing the girl, who was his cousin’s sister, after an altercation. The mobile phone and SIM card he had hidden after the murder have also been recovered by the Police (though they were partially destroyed).

The police arrested Abhishek Gupta and two other people on suspicion of committing the crime.

Speaking to the media in this regard, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Police District, Rajveer Singh said, “We have taken Abhishek Gupta into custody. He is the cousin of the deceased victim girl Dimpal Kumapati. During our interrogation, Gupta has confessed that he had killed Dimpal due to an altercation. Later, the accused has removed the SIM card from her mobile phone and had hidden it in his friend’s house in the Baruwari area.”

According to reports, Dimpal was with her cousin’s brother the day before she was murdered. When the murder occurred, he was in a nearby shop buying biscuits.

According to the reports, the victim’s father claimed that around 11 a.m. that morning, he had made a phone call to his daughter, Dimple, and that call was answered by Ashish, who said that Dimple was in the bathroom.
