1st Indian made flight to begin operation today

First ever Indian made aircraft, Dornier 228 aircraft to begin its operation starting today- from Dibrugarh to Pasighat. Aviation Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia to flag the operation.

Dornier 228, a passenger aircraft, will be flagged today to operate from Dibrugarh in Assam till Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. This is the first time ever that an aircraft made in India will operate. The aircraft is a commercial 17 seater non pressurized aircraft having an AC cabin that can operate both during the day as well as in the night.

The new operation of this aircraft will help the people in the northeastern region to connect better and boast tourism.

According to a recent report that is released, ” As a part of this scheme, two important developments will take place on 12th April 2022. First flight that is indian made – HAL Dornier Do 228 to fly from Dibrugarh in Assam to Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh. Alliance Air will be India’s first commercial airline to fly Indian made aircraft for civil operations. There will also be the inauguration of First FTO (Flying Training Organization) for Northeastern Region at Lilabari, Assam.”

The Alliance Air made an agreement with the two parties to lease Dornier 228 aircraft. The first Dornier 228 was received on 7th April 2022.

For the opening and flag off ceremony, three important dignatories of the Indian government – Assam CM, Arunchal Pradesh CM and Aviation Minister.

As of today, the aircraft Dornier 228 was only used by the Army.

According to the sources, the ministry of civil aviation said that, “The development of the Northeastern Region is not only of strategic importance but is also a part of India’s growth story. Connectivity in NER is very essential and under Ude desh ka Nagrik (UDAN)”.

Other new developments in the North Eastern Region

Vistadrome has earlier been started to run to Arunachal Pradesh from Guwahati. These luxurious looking trains has been introduced by the government to boast tourism and help in the economic development of the region. Previously, vistadrome existed and plied on the guwahati to half long route. Now two more has been added to ensure growth and development in the region.

Other than the railways and airways, the roads have also significantly been improved in the region. People are now travelling to Arunachal Pradesh’s Sela Pass region which earlier was quite difficult to drive. As a whole one can say that the government in the region has worked on this department to encourage people to travel to some of the most beautiful and enchanting places of the North East.
