India’s first Covid double infection case suspected to be a doctor from Assam

The SARS-CoV-2 corona virus that’s caused the Covid-19 pandemic over the world, and its many variants that are outcompeteting other strains. But the worrisome among these is the Delta variant.

Now a doctor from Assam could be India’s first case of double infection of Covid from two different variants of the deadly virus at the same time.

As reported by The Assam Tribune, a doctor from Dibrugarh recently detected the first case of double infection. ICMR is still in progress in recording and documenting the case. The doctor was infected by the ‘alpha’ and ‘delta’ variants at the same time.

However, the doctor was double vaccinated and was infected after a month of taking her second dose. Her husband was infected by the Alpha variants of SARS- CoV-2.

The samples of the doctors were collected twice to be ascertain and reconfirm the infection. Fortunately, she is mildly symptomatic and did not require hospitalization.
