Zubeen Garg breaks down while performing
The event took place on Tuesday, and Zubeen couldn’t hold back tears while singing a song he had once shared with his late sister, Jongki Borthakur.
Jongki Borthakur, also an actress and singer, tragically lost her life in a road accident in Balipara on January 12, 2002. The accident occurred as they were en route to a stage show in Sonitpur district, along with fellow artists. The profound impact of this loss was evident as Zubeen emotionally performed in remembrance of his beloved sister. Zubeen Garg had released the album “Xixhu” in 2002 as a tribute to Jongki Borthakur, a poignant expression of his love and grief. The album serves as a memorial to their shared artistic journey and the enduring bond between siblings.
The centenary celebration became a poignant moment, highlighting the deep emotional connection Zubeen has with Balipara, where the tragic incident unfolded. The community witnessed not just a performance but a heartfelt tribute to a sister whose memory continues to shape Zubeen’s artistic endeavors.
