Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has flagged off the Jan Shatabdi Express connecting Tripura and Manipur.
The train reportedly will run between Agartala and Jiribam connecting two north-eastern states, Tripura and Manipur.
The Jan Shatabdi Express will function three times a week and will take six hours to travel. It will run between Badharghat’s Agartala railway station and Manipur’s Jiribam railway station.

Railway Minister flags off via virtual mode
The minister flagged off the train via virtual mode and also praised the central government. He said that the government is working to develop the connectivity of the northeast region with the country.
Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb mentioned during the event that Tripura and Manipur shared cultural and matrimonial connections. Which was because three of Tripura’s queens are from Manipur.
He tweeted, “Launch of this train is a step ahead in fulfilling Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi Ji’s vision of making North East the AshtaLakshami of the country’s economy. Connecting North Eastern states with rail routes will open new avenues of economic activities in the region”.
Further, Manipur CM N. Biren Singh said that Tripura and Manipur also had a relationship since the royal period. Neither only did the railway line connect Tripura and Manipur, but it also connected the entire northeast region.
