Extending its endeavor to upgrade the connectivity of Railway in the Northeastern states, the Indian Railway sets off 1st goods train to Kaimai road railway station in Manipur

Manipur’s 1st goods train:

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw took the pictures of the train to its official Twitter handle where he wrote, “As committed.” In his 2021 Independence Day speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had set a target for the Indian Railways to connect all the northeastern state capitals.”

When will it start its service?

During his visit to Guwahati, Vaishnaw had announced that a goods train is expected to start services to the Kaimai Road railway station by the end of this month. During his visit Vaishnav did an aerial survey of the Jiribam-Imphal new line project in Manipur and also announced that the tourist circuit trains will be introduced in the northeast, covering all prominent locations of the region.

Kaimai road railway station:

The Kaimai Road railway station is located in Imphal East district of Manipur. Its code is KMIRDL. It will serve Kaimai city. The station consists of two platforms.

Earlier in the month of January, the Minister initiated aerial surveys of the Jiribam-Imphal new line project in Manipur. The project also includes the country’s longest train tunnel, connecting Imphal to Guwahati.

The Minister also announced that the tourist circuit trains will also be introduced in the northeast, covering all prominent locations of the region.
