After receiving up to ten COVID-19 shots in one day, a New Zealand man was dubbed “unbelievably selfish.”
The nameless man was allegedly paid to impersonate other persons and visit many vaccination centers in a single day to receive ten doses. His behavior has been described as “silly and dangerous.”
What happened?
According to the news website Stuff, the individual, who has not been identified and is currently under investigation, went to various vaccination centers.
According to local media, he was paid to take shots on behalf of others while posing as the people who had allegedly hired him.
COVID-19 vaccination and immunization program manager Astrid Koornneef told Stuff that the country’s Ministry of Health was taking the situation seriously.
She stated, “We are very worried about this situation and are working with the relevant agencies.”
He is unlikely to die
Graham Le Gros, director of the Malaghan Institute and an immunologist, called the actions “silly and dangerous.”
He went on to say that while the man was unlikely to die from the 10 vaccinations, the fact that he received so many doses could imply the vaccine isn’t as effective.
Those who get immunizations on behalf of others are “not making themselves safer, and they’re certainly foolish by aiding people who need to be made safe,” according to Le Gros.
