To ensure passenger convenience, the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati has implemented various innovative measures.
Guwahati LGBI International Airport has started a new endeavor to put XBIS machines in a parallel and sequential manner at the check-in baggage screening area to facilitate the free passage of departing passengers.
Furthermore, due to night’s aircraft activities, the chiller plant began operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The airport has introduced a passenger-focused self-check-in project using a common usage (CUSs) self-service machine.
The CUSS machines are stationed outside the terminal and are manned by a trained crew of CSES who assist travelers in printing boarding permits and checking bags.
In addition, the LGBI commercial team has opened a number of additional F&B and retail establishments to improve the passenger experience.
Another innovation is the installation of trolleys surrounding the luggage belt in the Terminal’s arrival hall, making it easier for travelers. Even before the guests arrive, the CSE crew positions the trolleys at a specific distance around the conveyor belt.
Ropeway Connecting LGBI
The Assam government plans to build a passenger ropeway connecting the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport and Guwahati city, Assam Chief Minister (CM) Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on April 11, while unveiling the BJP’s Sankalp Patra for the GMC Polls.
According to CM Sarma, a prominent firm has been hired to consult on the passenger ropeway’s building plan.
However, this decision was made to ensure the city’s free flow of traffic.
Furthermore, the government has planned to implement a traffic control system that is integrated.
The ropeway, however, will not be a tourist attraction. The objective, according to Himanta Biswa Sama, is to connect the LGBI airport to any specific place in the city.
Assam’s chief minister stated, “This isn’t a fantasy; Varanasi has already made it a reality. The passenger traffic system by ropeway can be constructed in the most cost-effective manner possible.”
