Munawar Faruqui‘s secret of being sexually molested when he was 6 or 7 inspired host Kangana Ranaut to open up about being inappropriately handled as a child by a boy in her village in the most recent episode of Lock Upp.
Munawar decides to save Saisha Shinde by revealing his secret in the show. He says to Kangana Ranaut, “When I was sexually molested, I was between the ages of 6 and 7. They were cousins. It lasted for about 4 to 5 years. It was a close family, and I didn’t realize what was going on at the time. When it got to the fourth year, they realized they needed to stop.”
He continued, “I’ve never told everyone since I have to face them. I didn’t see the point in telling anyone. My father, I believe, was aware of it. He mentioned something once that made me feel like he knew what I was talking about, but I can’t recall what it was. Now, I believe Dad didn’t say anything because he may have felt the same way…after all, how do you tell anyone about it?”
Kangana Ranaut tells her story after being inspired by Munawar
“Munawar, so many kids go through this kind of harassment every year, but no one discusses it on a public platform,” Kangana said.
In addition, Kangana Ranaut said, “Everyone is touched inappropriately in childhood. This has been experienced by many, including myself. In my town when I was quite young, a boy, who was a few years older than me, used to inappropriately touch me. But I didn’t know what it meant back then. Every child has to go through this no matter how protective their family is.”
She went on to say, “But you also mentioned that before sharing it, everyone believes they are to blame for the situation. Because children are too young to receive this education, it is not possible to provide it to them. You can’t make them sexualized or teach them the difference between a good and a terrible touch.”
She continued, “ Society is in such a state of distress. And children suffer a great deal as a result of this. They are permanently traumatized and disfigured. Later in life, they will face a slew of challenges. As a result, we’re using this platform to raise awareness regarding child and sexual abuse. Munawar and I have both experienced it.”
Kangana Ranaut did not rest on her laurels. She told me about another incident she had as a child. “She remarked, “But humse teen chaar saal bada tha humare mohalle mein choti hi umar ka hi ek ladka tha. He was obviously experimenting with his sexuality. Hum bache bahot chote chote chote chote chote chote chote chote The logon ko bulate the hum logon ko bulate the hum logon ko The humare kapde utarte Check karte the humko humko humko humko humk Paanch cheh saal ke the hum paanch cheh saal ke the hum paanch cheh Uss time pe samajh nahi aata tha ki humare saath kya ho raha hai ki humare saath kya ho raha hai.
“However, there are many mujhe lagta hai kaafi badi parecentage bachon ki hai who suffer through this, and there is a great shame attached to it, particularly for men. Munawar, you’ve shown incredible bravery.”
Munawar tells Kangana Ranaut that the incident has stayed with him.
‘They are your family members, and they are around, and you have to face it,’ Kangana Ranaut says.
It’s ironic that individuals that care about you do things like this. It produces emotions that you are unable to recognize. It has an impact on our life choices. The greatest way to get it off your chest is to talk about it. And I’m glad you shared it with us on this platform.’
