Flybig has been served a show cause notice by the state government for stopping its service on the Shillong-Delhi route, which was inaugurated with great fanfare last year.
Notice to Flybig
“We have already issued a show cause notice to Flybig,” stated Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday. We’ll decide how to proceed after we receive their response.”
Sangma further indicated that airline was having difficulty obtaining a wet lease aircraft, but due to pressure from the state government, the airline partnered with SpiceJet to obtain a Q 400 aircraft and began service.
SpiceJet’s contract with the airline is not being extended, according to the CM, and as a result, the latter will be unable to maintain its flight operations.
Flybig, for its part, has approached the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the Director General of Civil Aviation about a wet lease of an aircraft.
A wet lease is a contract that covers the rental of an aircraft, as well as the provision of a flight crew and, in certain cases, fuel.
