On January 8, first Janshatabdi Express train was flagged off by Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw between three northeastern states of Assam, Manipur and Tripura.
Why Janshatabdi train initiative taken?
Railways stated that this service fulfils the long standing demand of people of the two states. G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) said that it will work as a medium of easy connection amidst the states which will also help in boosting the trade and tourism of the regions.
The Chairman of Railway Board and CEO V. K. Tripathi briefed about the newly introduced train service. On this occasion, the Chief Minister of Tripura, Biplab Kumar Deb said that this train service will reduce the travel time from Agartala to Silchar (nearby Arunachal Station) and Jiribam.
CM of Manipur expresses gratitude:
CM N.Biren Singh of Manipur expressed his gratitude to the Railway Minister for getting the approval of the new rail line project of Imphal-Moreh section. The Chief Ministers of both the states further said that the old relationship between the two states will be further strengthened after the start of this train service.
