In a horrendous incident at Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dibrugarh, a fire broke out at the paediatric ward on Wednesday, November 10.
• How did the fire break out?
The fire is believed to have been caused by means of a ventilator donated from PM-CARE. As per the reports obtained through sources, 10 newborn have been harmlessly evacuated.

• What does the previous records denote?
As per the previous records, this is not the first time that a fire broke out in AMCH. In 2020, an infant, who was reportedly on ventilation support in the intensive care unit (ICU), died after the disconnection of the power supply due to the fire. However, AMCH superintendent, Indra Chutia justified the infant’s death as he conveyed his death was not related to the fire rather it was because of the adequate power backup in the ICU.
