A shocking incident unfolded in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district as an intoxicated man, identified as 70-year-old Pratap Singh, allegedly assaulted and killed an 85-year-old woman named Kalki Bai Gameti. The tragic event occurred in Tarpal village under the jurisdiction of Saira police station on Saturday. A video capturing the incident has since gone viral on various social media platforms, shedding light on the horrifying incident.

The viral video depicts Singh violently attacking the elderly woman with an umbrella and using his legs to kick her near the Mahadev temple. The accused can be heard proclaiming himself to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva while brutally assaulting the woman. This disturbing footage has ignited shock and outrage across the community.

Rapid police action followed the circulation of the video, leading to the detention of four individuals for further investigation. Among those held are Pratap Singh and Nathu Singh, along with two juveniles who were present at the scene and captured the shocking incident on camera.

The video paints a grim picture of the elderly woman pleading for mercy, while a bystander attempts to dissuade the accused from his violent actions. Even the minors filming the incident made efforts to intervene and prevent the woman from suffering further harm.

Addressing the situation, Udaipur SP Bhuwan Bhushan Yadav revealed that during interrogation, the accused confessed to believing he was an embodiment of Lord Shiva due to his intoxicated state. Singh’s irrational conviction drove him to brutally assault the woman, as he erroneously believed he could both take her life and bring her back to existence.

The authorities confirmed the arrest of four individuals, including the primary accused. A top police official revealed that the inebriated man was experiencing hallucinations, imagining himself to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva, which led him to tragically take the life of the elderly woman, with the misguided belief that he could later resurrect her.

The viral video offers a chilling insight into the moments leading up to the fatal assault. In the footage, the intoxicated person is seen sitting beside the elderly woman, addressing her as a “Maharani” or queen. He proceeds to launch a series of forceful punches on her chest, causing her to collapse on the ground. The graphic video further depicts the accused dragging the woman’s lifeless body mercilessly.

This heart-wrenching incident highlights the devastating consequences of alcohol-induced hallucinations and the tragic loss of a precious life. The incident underscores the need for social awareness and the importance of addressing alcohol-related issues, especially in situations that can lead to dangerous behaviors and outcomes.

As the investigation continues, questions arise about the broader implications of mental health awareness, substance abuse, and the safety of vulnerable individuals within society. The tragic event serves as a grim reminder of the importance of fostering empathy, awareness, and responsible behavior to prevent such senseless tragedies in the future.
