The diety at Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district has been adorned with currency notes totalling Rs 5.16 crore. Over a hundred volunteers laboured for several hours to decorate the temple with Rs 2,000, Rs 500, Rs 200, Rs 100, Rs 50, and Rs 10 notes.

Currency

Members of the temple committee and devotees gathered fresh currency notes and engaged artists to complete the one-of-a-kind ornamentation. As part of the Dasara celebrations, the committee also intends to decorate the deity with 7 kgs of gold and 60 kg silver.

During the navratri celebrations, a significant number of followers worship the deity in the ‘avatar’ of ‘Dhanalakshmi,’ the goddess of riches. The temple committee recently finished remodelling works at a cost of Rs 11 crore, according to Mukkala Dwarakanath, chairman of the Nellore Urban Development Authority (NUDA) and a member of the temple committee.
