Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially opened the Atal Udyan, commonly known as Adabari Park, in Guwahati, Assam, on Friday.
At a cost of Rs 8 crore 74 lakhs, it was built: GMDA
The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) built the Atal Udyan park at a cost of Rs 8 crore 74 lakhs on an area of 8 bighas.
Includes an amphitheatre, a gym, and mural art, among other things.
According to a Time8 report, the park has a 250-seat amphitheatre, a meditation hall, an open-air gym, children’s play equipment, mural artwork with dais, and more.

Named the park “Atal Udyan”
Meanwhile, the park is named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was awarded the title of ‘Bharat Ratna’.
“This park has been built within 7 months of the government,” CM Sarma stated, adding that “the building up of another such park at Hengrabari will also be completed shortly, while the botanical garden at the Fancy Bazaar old jail complex will be ready by 2023.”

“The state government has been constantly striving towards developing open spaces to turn Guwahati into a modern city with lots of greenery and recreational avenues, and with these parks, Guwahati will have five big parks,” he said, highlighting the role of government in developing open spaces within the city of Guwahati.

“We are also in the process of relocating all government offices to an Integrated Directorate Complex at Lakhra in the city and establishing parks in the vacated office spaces,” he added. In order to realise our vision of a contemporary city with healthy living spaces, we intend to construct indoor stadiums, swimming pools, and sports facilities in each of Guwahati’s four constituencies.”
