Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) has unraveled the murder case of a minor that took place yesterday at Uzanbazar. The team has unfolded the case and arrested the accused on the charge of killing the girl.
Victim’s phone recovered
The accused’s named Ashikesk Gupta. He confessed to killing the girl, who is his cousin. However, Police have also recovered her mobile phone and SIM card, which he hid after the murder. Yet, the accused himself led the Police to recover them, while it was partially destroyed.
The heinous murder of the minor girl was investigated by ( Latasil PS Case No. 303/21 U/S 302 IPC) DCP Central, ACP Women’s Cell & the CGPD team.
The accused stated the reason behind the crime
The accused has admitted that he killed the girl, due to an argument. However, the case is under investigation.
The victim girl was just 13 years old who was brutally murdered at her residence in Uzanbazar on 1st September, this horrific incident shook the entire city.
Earlier investigation
Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Harmeet Singh, earlier on this issue said, “We have got a couple of leads in the case. The investigation is being carried out scientifically. We cannot reveal anything at present for the sake of the investigation. Forensic, CID, and dog squad teams are on the spot. Let us work on it”.
Earlier Police have taken 3 persons into police interrogation which are , the victim’s uncle, his son Ashish Gupta and another person Jitumoni Sarma who lives on rent in their house.
