Saikhom Mirabai Chanu who hails from Manipur won many hearts with her outstanding performance in the Tokyo Olympics in Japan. She represented India and won the silver medal in women’s 49 kg weightlifting. She is a fighter and has become a source of inspiration for many.
Mirabai Chanu to be a part of the Police force?

After her huge success at the Olympics, the Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh, announced on 26 July, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu will be appointed as the Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) in the state police department and the state government will also reward her with a sum amount of Rs. 1 crore.

Development in the weightlifting sport!
With Mirabai Chanu bringing pride in the state as well as the country with her skills of weight lifting, the government on the other hand also decided to establish a world-class weightlifting academy in the state soon, where people who have a passion for weightlifting can move a step of success toward their dreams.
The chief minister also notified that Judoka L Sushila Devi, who was also a part of the Olympics this year in the Judo segment, will also be promoted from the rank of constable to sub-inspector.
Support rom the government
The government overall took a very firm decision in support of the players who are making India proud. All the participants of the Tokyo Olympics will be provided with a sum amount of Rs. 25 lakh each.
At least five athletes from Manipur, including Chanu, Devi, and boxer Mary Kom, are representing the country at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.
